ROM

ROM stands for Read-Only Memory, which is a type of computer memory that is used to store permanent data that cannot be modified. Unlike RAM, which is volatile and loses its data when the computer is turned off, ROM retains its data even when the power is turned off. ROM is used to store the firmware of a computer system, which is the software that is permanently programmed into the hardware. This firmware includes the BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) that controls the boot process of the computer, as well as other system-level software that is necessary for the computer to function properly. ROM is also used in embedded systems, such as video game consoles and mobile phones, to store the operating system and other critical software components.
