Public Key Infrastructure
Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) is a system that provides a secure method for exchanging digital information by using a combination of public and private cryptographic keys. PKI is used to verify the identity of users and devices, and to ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and non-repudiation of data. The system consists of a Certificate Authority (CA), which issues digital certificates that contain the public key of the user or device, and a Registration Authority (RA), which verifies the identity of the user or device before issuing the certificate. The digital certificate is used to encrypt and decrypt data, and to verify the identity of the sender and receiver. PKI is widely used in e-commerce, online banking, and other applications that require secure communication over the internet.
