Decision Variables

In Data Science, Decision Variables are the set of variables that are used to represent the possible decisions that can be made in a given problem. These variables are used to model the decision-making process in mathematical optimization problems. Decision Variables can be continuous, discrete or mixed. Continuous Decision Variables can take any value within a given range, while Discrete Decision Variables can only take on specific values. Mixed Decision Variables are a combination of both continuous and discrete variables. The values of Decision Variables are determined by the optimization algorithm, which seeks to find the optimal solution to the problem based on a set of constraints and an objective function. Decision Variables are an important concept in Operations Research, which is a field of study that uses mathematical models to optimize complex systems and processes.
