Transmission Control Protocol
Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) is a core protocol of the Internet Protocol (IP) suite. It is responsible for establishing and maintaining a reliable, ordered, and error-checked connection between applications running on different hosts. TCP provides a virtual circuit between two endpoints, allowing for the transmission of data in both directions. It breaks data into packets, numbers them for sequencing, and retransmits lost packets. TCP also manages flow control, ensuring that data is transmitted at a rate that the receiver can handle. It is a connection-oriented protocol, meaning that a connection must be established before data can be transmitted. Once the connection is established, data can be sent in both directions until the connection is terminated.
