TCP (Transmission Control Protocol) is a standard communication protocol that is used to establish a connection between two devices over a network. It provides reliable, ordered, and error-checked delivery of data between applications running on hosts communicating via an IP network. TCP is a connection-oriented protocol, which means that a connection is established and maintained until the application programs at each end have finished exchanging messages. TCP uses a three-way handshake to establish a connection, which involves a SYN message from the client to the server, a SYN-ACK message from the server to the client, and an ACK message from the client to the server. TCP also includes flow control and congestion control mechanisms to ensure that data is transmitted efficiently and without overwhelming the network. In the context of data science and artificial intelligence, TCP is often used as a transport protocol for transmitting data between distributed systems and for communication between different components of a distributed system.
