In clustering, the position of a data point is used to group similar data points together. In classification, the position of a data point is used to determine its class label. In regression, the position of a data point is used to predict its numerical value. Position can also be used to visualize data in a scatter plot or a heat map, where each data point is represented by a point or a cell in a grid.
