Network Layer
In computer networking, the network layer is responsible for facilitating data transfer between devices in different networks. It provides logical addressing, routing, and forwarding of data packets from the source device to the destination device. The network layer is responsible for selecting the best path for data transmission and ensuring that data packets are delivered error-free and in the correct order. It also manages congestion control and quality of service (QoS) to ensure that network resources are used efficiently and effectively. The network layer is implemented in the networking hardware and software, including routers, switches, and protocols such as IP (Internet Protocol), ICMP (Internet Control Message Protocol), and ARP (Address Resolution Protocol).
