Lexical Analysis

Lexical analysis is the process of analyzing a stream of input characters and converting it into a sequence of tokens, which can be interpreted as meaningful expressions in a programming language. In other words, it is the process of breaking down a program into its basic building blocks, such as keywords, identifiers, operators, and literals. The main goal of lexical analysis is to identify the structure of the input program and to generate a token stream that can be used by the parser to build an abstract syntax tree. This process is an important step in the compilation process of a programming language.
