Hypertext Transfer Protocol
Hypertext Transfer Protocol (HTTP) is an application protocol used for transmitting data over the World Wide Web. It is the foundation of data communication for the World Wide Web. HTTP functions as a request-response protocol in the client-server computing model. A web browser, for example, may be the client and an application running on a computer hosting a website may be the server. HTTP is a stateless protocol, meaning that the server does not keep any data (state) between two requests from the same client. HTTP is designed to be extensible, allowing applications to evolve and add new features over time. HTTP is also used as a foundation for other protocols such as WebSocket and HTTP/2.
