Hard Real-time
Hard real-time refers to a type of computing system where the correctness of the system depends not only on the logical correctness of the computation but also on the time at which the results are produced. In other words, the system must produce correct results within a guaranteed time frame, or else the system is considered to have failed. Hard real-time systems are commonly used in safety-critical applications such as avionics, medical devices, and automotive systems, where a failure to produce results within a specified time frame could result in serious consequences, including loss of life. To achieve hard real-time performance, these systems typically use specialized hardware and software that are designed to minimize the time required to perform critical operations.
