Data Protection Officer

A Data Protection Officer (DPO) is a person who is responsible for ensuring that an organization is processing personal data in compliance with relevant data protection laws and regulations. The DPO is responsible for monitoring internal compliance, informing and advising on data protection obligations, providing advice regarding Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and acting as a contact point for data subjects and the supervisory authority. The DPO should be independent, an expert in data protection, adequately resourced, and report to the highest management level. The DPO should also be involved in all issues relating to the protection of personal data.
