Categorical
In data science, categorical refers to a type of data that represents characteristics or qualities, rather than numerical values. Categorical data can be further divided into nominal and ordinal data. Nominal data is used to represent variables that have no inherent order or ranking, such as colors or types of fruit. Ordinal data, on the other hand, represents variables that have a natural order or ranking, such as levels of education or income. Categorical data is often analyzed using statistical methods such as chi-squared tests or contingency tables.
