Security Mechanisms
Security mechanisms refer to the various techniques and tools used to protect data and systems from unauthorized access, use, disclosure, disruption, modification, or destruction. These mechanisms include authentication, authorization, encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, and security information and event management systems. Authentication is the process of verifying the identity of a user or system, while authorization is the process of granting or denying access to resources based on the authenticated identity. Encryption is the process of converting plain text into a coded message to prevent unauthorized access, while firewalls are used to monitor and control incoming and outgoing network traffic. Intrusion detection and prevention systems are used to detect and prevent unauthorized access to systems, while security information and event management systems are used to collect and analyze security-related data from various sources to identify potential security threats.
