Remote Procedure Calls

Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) is a protocol that allows a computer program to execute a subroutine or procedure on a remote server without having to understand the network's details. RPC is a client-server model where the client sends a request to the server, and the server sends back a response. The client and server can be on different machines, and the communication between them is transparent to the client. RPC is commonly used in distributed systems, where different components of a system are located on different machines. RPC enables these components to communicate with each other as if they were on the same machine. RPC is often used in conjunction with other technologies, such as Object Request Brokers (ORBs) and Web Services.
