Quadrature Amplitude Modulation
Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) is a digital modulation technique that conveys data by changing the amplitude of two carrier waves, which are out of phase with each other. The amplitude and phase of the carrier waves are modulated to represent the digital signal. QAM is widely used in telecommunications, cable television, and wireless communication systems. It allows for high data rates and efficient use of bandwidth. QAM can be implemented using different constellations, such as 16-QAM, 64-QAM, and 256-QAM, which represent different levels of modulation. The higher the number of bits per symbol, the higher the data rate that can be achieved. However, higher order QAM constellations are more susceptible to noise and interference, which can degrade the signal quality.
