Narrow AI
Narrow AI, also known as Weak AI, refers to artificial intelligence systems that are designed and trained for a specific task. Unlike general AI systems, which can perform any intellectual task that a human being can do, narrow AI systems are limited to their training data and the specific task they are designed for. They cannot understand or learn any task that is outside their specific function. Examples of narrow AI include recommendation systems like those used by Netflix or Amazon, voice recognition systems like Siri or Alexa, and image recognition systems used in self-driving cars. These systems can only learn and make decisions based on the specific data they have been trained on, and they cannot make decisions outside of this context. Despite these limitations, narrow AI systems are incredibly effective at the tasks they are designed for, often outperforming humans in speed and accuracy.
