Censored Data
Censored data is a type of data that is incomplete or partially missing due to some censoring mechanism. In data science, censoring refers to the process of hiding or obscuring certain parts of the data, either intentionally or unintentionally. This can happen due to various reasons such as privacy concerns, data collection errors, or limitations in data collection methods. Censored data can be of two types: right-censored and left-censored. Right-censored data occurs when the event of interest has not occurred by the end of the study period, while left-censored data occurs when the event of interest has occurred before the study period. Censored data is commonly encountered in survival analysis, where the goal is to estimate the time until an event of interest occurs, such as death or failure of a machine.
